MGH hires Nitin R. Sharma, MD, FACS, FASMBS, as General Surgeon

Last month Nitin Sharma, MD FACS, FASMBS, joined Marion Health’s medical team as a board-certified General Surgeon.

Dr. Sharma graduated in 2001 from B.J. Medical College, University of Pune, India, and completed his first year of residency training at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. His remaining years of residency were spent at Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Sharma held the title of resident and chief resident in general surgery. He handled a diverse case load that included technically challenging areas in general surgery, surgical oncology, laparoscopic surgery, gastric bypass, complex trauma cases, among many other areas. After the residency, he completed fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at WALS/WLH, India. He also worked for two years as a consultant in general surgery in Dubai, UAE.

Dr. Sharma then completed a fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at the Princeton University Hospital, in Princeton, NJ, where he was trained both with the state of the art Davinci robot and advanced laparoscopic techniques involving bariatric surgery. Following his fellowship training, he also worked as an attending general and bariatric surgeon in NY.
