Marion General Hospital Staff Earns Professional Certification

Elizabeth Garrasi, Protective Services and Emergency Manager, is now a Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional from The International Board for Certification of Safety Managers.

A New York native, Garrasi earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations from Taylor University in Fort Wayne, IN. She has received technical emergency response training as well as training at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness. Garrasi is also certified in emergency medical dispatch.

Her hobbies and interests include assistant coaching high school girls basketball, traveling to new places and exploring other cultures, cooking, Krav Maga, and reading.

Angie Kitashoji, BSN, RN-CIC, Coordinator of Infection Control, is now certified in Infection Control from The Certification Board of Infection Control and Prevention. A 4-year Marion Health employee, Kitashoji earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Olivet Nazarene University.

With 30 years of nursing experience, Kitashoji has worked in a variety of settings including maternal child, home care and hospice, emergency room, and telemetry, as well as a critical access hospital, tertiary care centers, community hospitals, and as a contract and travel nurse.

Her hobbies and interests include teaching Sunday school for ages 4-5, playing the piano and singing, and playing the CDC’s game “Solve the Outbreak” on her tablet.

“Marion Health is very open to adopting new technology, such as new molecular testing in the lab and new care practices as new research comes along. This is very exciting to see the way we can impact the organization to better the health of the community,” she says.
