Marion General Hospital Recognized by ISDH and National Safe Sleep Program

Marion Health participated in a 2016 state initiative to evaluate hepatitis B vaccine administration of newborn infants. The Indiana State Department of Health awarded Marion Health with the Gold Award based on the results of that 2016 initiative. MGH received the award in recognition of best practices in the prevention of perinatal hepatitis B infection.

Marion Health was also recognized by the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program as a “Bronze Safe Sleep Hospital”; one of the first hospitals in Indiana to receive this title, for their commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep.

In addition to being Cribs for Kids® partners, Marion Health was recognized for following the safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and providing training programs for parents, staff and the community.

Marion Health was also chosen as a recipient to receive $650 in state and federal grant funding for Child Passenger Safety Programs. Grant funding is awarded through the Traffic Safety division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

These awards are the result of a collaborative team effort from all Obstetric and Pediatric physicians, their respective office staff, pharmacy, Family Birthing Center and Health Information Management staff.
