MGH Radiology Dept Earns ACR Accreditation
MarionGeneralHospital was accredited again by the AmericanCollege of Radiology (ACR) for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography with computed tomography (PET/CT) and nuclear medicine. The ACR further recognized Marion Health as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. Held since 2006, MGH was in the first 3% of hospitals to obtain this distinction. By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
The ACR—a national organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists awards accreditations to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards and assesses qualifications of the personnel, adequacy of facility equipment, quality-control procedures, quality assurance programs, and quality of clinical images.
The accreditations recognize the professionalism of our radiologists and the staff’s commitment to providing the highest level of quality patient care. “Our nuclear medicine, MRI, PET/CT, as well as our Breast Imaging Center of Excellence award, recognizes the quality, professionalism and technical ability of our radiology department,” states Lynn Imel, Administrative Director of Radiology. “We are proud to attain these recognitions and see it as another example of excellence at Marion Health.”
