Respiratory Therapists Receive Special Training
Dr. R. Patel, leading Marion Health pulmonologist, provided clinical training for six, ACLS credentialed, registered respiratory therapists on how to intubate adult patients during an emergency.
Intubation is a medical procedure in which a tube is placed into the windpipe to open the airway to help a patient breath.
"These six individuals represent a very motivated and inspired team of professionals," states Sherry Howell, RN, administrative director of Respiratory Care. "This group is going to give the very best patient care and will be a wonderful asset for our patients and the Marion Health staff.”
Dr. Dhan Raj, Marion Health anesthesiologist, has agreed to be their "physician champion" in the clinical setting. Dr. Raj will help the therapists stay skilled in intubation by providing training and competency check-off within an operating room setting. This competency maintenance means these six registered respiratory therapists will provide excellence each and every time.
A special thank you to both Dr. R. Patel and Dr. Dhan Raj for teaching and assisting our staff to be clinical experts for our patients.
