Pain Management Specialist Joins Medical Staff

Marion Health is pleased to welcome Leslie Chan, M.D., to its medical staff. Dr. Chan is an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist. Dr. Chan received his medical education from the National University of Singapore and served his internship in preliminary internal medicine at St. Vincent Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

His anesthesia residency and completion of a one-year ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) Pain Management Fellowship program were fulfilled at the University of California in San Francisco.

Dr. Chan’s interest in pain management grew from his experiences at the University of California. "I decided to sub-specialize in pain management after my anesthesia residency because it is a very fascinating field with a lot of secrets which are yet to be unraveled by science," he says.

Dr. Chan’s skills in anesthesia and pain management are a welcomed addition to both the healthcare community and area patients. Marion Health’s medical staff is excited about the arrival of yet another highly-qualified anesthesiologist, and patients will benefit from his expertise since various studies have shown as much as 50% improvement in pain reduction after visiting a pain specialist.
