New 64-Slice CT Scanner Benefits Patients
Marion Health has once again invested in the latest and most advanced technology to better serve the healthcare needs of area patients. The new equipment offers Marion Health, physicians and radiologists almost endless diagnostic possibilities. MGH’s Radiology department is the recipient of a new, state-of-the-art Philips Brilliance® CT 64-slice scanner, one of the most advanced CT systems in the healthcare industry.
CT, or Computed Tomography, (sometimes referred to as a “CAT” scan) combines X-rays with advanced computer processing technology to create high-quality, accurate and detailed images of internal organs and structures. The technology has revolutionized modern diagnostic medicine because it allows physicians and radiologists to view bones, organs, blood vessels and even the heart in extraordinarily fine detail and at different angles. The new 64-slice scanner also gives Marion Health physicians crucial information more quickly and aids in the process of determining an earlier and faster diagnosis.
“I am very excited about the new offerings of radiological services and the commitment to patient care Marion Health is making to the community,” states Lynn Imel, administrative director of radiology. “Our services match, and in many cases, exceed offerings in larger cities.”
